On September 23rd, ITHAKA held a day-long meeting focused on the sustainability of scholarly communications. We were joined by leaders from libraries, presses, publishers, and learned societies, as well as editors, digital project leaders, and funders working in higher education.
Our aims in hosting Sustainable Scholarship 2009 were to facilitate a productive exchange of ideas among those most deeply invested in creating a healthy, innovative, and sustainable eco-system for scholarly communication in the future, and to provide examples and actionable ideas that could be used in many institutions and organizations as people plan and execute strategies relating to the creation, dissemination, preservation, and funding of scholarship and other content.
