Newly Signed Publishers

Portico, a digital preservation service for the scholarly community (www.portico.org), is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) to preserve its flagship online publication, American Journal of Archaeology. The AIA is North America’s oldest and largest organization devoted to the world of archaeology with nearly 250,000 members and subscribers belonging to more than 100 local AIA societies in the United States, Canada, and overseas, united by a shared passion for archaeology and its role in furthering human knowledge.

Through this agreement with Portico, the AIA furthers its preservation strategy for the American Journal of Archaeology, the back issues of which have been preserved in JSTOR. Through this agreement with Portico, the AIA ensures that the born-digital current issues of the journal will remain accessible to future generations of scholars, researchers, and students.

With the inclusion of the American Journal of Archaeology, over 8,200 e-journals and 4,400 e-books have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of e-journals is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-titles/ and a list of participating publishers is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-publishers/.
