Liverpool University Press to Preserve E-Journals in Portico

Portico (www.portico.org) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Liverpool University Press to preserve their entire collection of 13 online journals. Building on the partnership established in 2008 with JSTOR, this agreement enhances Liverpool University Press’s long-term commitment to ensure preservation of digital content and ensures that its e-journals will be preserved and available for future scholars, researchers, and students.

Founded in 1899, Liverpool University Press is the third oldest university press in England. Liverpool University Press publishes academic journals and books of high quality on a wide range of subjects, including history, literature, art, and architecture by authors from around the world. They are also a respected publisher of science fiction texts and Liverpool interest titles.

As part of the agreement, Liverpool University Press will make an annual financial contribution to Portico to support its preservation activities and has also named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims.

With the inclusion of Liverpool University Press’s 13 e-journals, over 10,700 e-journals and 34,000 e-books from 91 publishers on behalf of over 2,000 societies and associations have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of titles and participating publishers is available at www.portico.org.
