Portico and NISO Reach Preservation Agreement

Portico, a digital preservation service for the scholarly community (www.portico.org), is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with NISO (National Information Standards Organization) to preserve its online publication, Information Standards Quarterly. NISO, a non-profit association accredited by the American National Standards Institute, identifies, develops, maintains, and publishes technical standards to manage information in a digital environment. NISO standards apply both traditional and new technologies to the full range of information-related needs, including retrieval, re-purposing, storage, metadata, and preservation.

Through this agreement with Portico, NISO ensures that the online version of its publication will be preserved and available for future scholars, researchers and students. NISO has named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims and has also agreed to make an annual financial contribution to Portico.

With the inclusion of Information Standards Quarterly, over 7,900 e-journals and 4,400 e-books have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of e-journals is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-titles/ and a list of participating publishers is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-publishers/.
