Portico (www.portico.org) is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with M.E. Sharpe to preserve its entire online journals collection of 38 titles. Founded in 1958, M.E. Sharpe is a privately held publisher of books and journals in the social sciences and in economics, political science, management and public administration, history, and literature. They also publish both original works and translations in Asian and East European studies.
Through this agreement with Portico, M.E. Sharpe furthers its preservation strategy. Since 2005, M.E. Sharpe has worked with JSTOR to provide a trusted archive for 4 of its journals’ back issues. Through Portico, it will provide for the ongoing preservation of the full suite of its titles, including both electronic journal issues and digitized print. M.E. Sharpe has also agreed to make an annual financial contribution to Portico and has named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims.
With the inclusion of the M.E. Sharpe publications, over 14,000 e-books and e-journals have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of journal titles is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-titles/ and a list of participating publishers is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-publishers/.
