University of Nebraska – Lincoln Libraries to Preserve E-Journals in Portico

Portico (www.portico.org) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Libraries to preserve their entire collection of 5 online journals. Through this agreement with Portico, the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Libraries ensures that these journals will be preserved and available for future scholars, researchers, and students.

The University’s Libraries, which include the Don L. Love Memorial Library and six branch libraries, together with the Marvin and Virginia Schmid Law Library, have a collection of over 2.9 million print volumes and more than 44,000 current serial subscriptions.

With this agreement, the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Libraries expands its relationship with Portico, which it already supports as a Participating Institution. The library will make an additional annual financial contribution to Portico to support its preservation activities and has also named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims on behalf of the titles to be preserved.

With the inclusion of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln Libraries’ 5 online journals, over 10,700 e-journals and 34,000 e-books from 91 publishers on behalf of over 2,000 societies and associations have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of titles and participating publishers is available at www.portico.org.
