Portico, a digital preservation service for the scholarly community (www.portico.org), is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with Walter de Gruyter to preserve 61 titles from its online journal collection. For more than 250 years, Walter de Gruyter, with headquarters in Berlin and offices in New York, has published books and journals in the humanities and social sciences, including theology, philosophy, biology, chemistry, linguistics, literature, mathematics, physics, history, archaeology, law, and medicine.
Through this agreement with Portico, Walter de Gruyter ensures that the online version of these journals will be preserved and available for future scholars, researchers and students. Walter de Gruyter has named Portico as a mechanism to fill post-cancellation access claims and has also agreed to make an annual financial contribution to Portico.
With the inclusion of these Walter de Gruyter journals, over 7,900 e-journals and 4,400 e-books have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of e-journals is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-titles/ and a list of participating publishers is available at /digital-preservation/who-participates-in-portico/participating-publishers/.
