Portico access alert: BMJ Simulation & Technology Enhanced Learning

Portico is now providing access to content from the journal BMJ Simulation & Technology Enhanced Learning. This title contributed to research in the use of simulation and innovative technology across the health and social care professions in order to improve clinical outcomes, safety, and patient experiences. Findings: Enhancing Services to Preserve New Forms of Scholarship project

We are pleased to share the findings of Enhancing Services to Preserve New Forms of Scholarship, a two-year project funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and led by NYU Libraries to evaluate preservation for new forms of scholarly publishing. The project was a collaboration among digital preservation services, libraries, and university presses, who studied complex dynamic publications with features such as multimedia, data visualizations, and maps. Portico now hosts the content from two additional journals: Forum für osteuropäische Ideen -und Zeitgeschichte and Internationales Jahrbuch der Erwachsenenbildung, both formerly published by De Gruyter. These titles are no longer available through their former publisher or a successor; therefore, they have “triggered” and are available to the community via the Portico archive. Portico to participate in Embedding Preservability project

Portico will participate in Embedding Preservability, a three-year project led by the NYU Libraries’ Digital Library Technology Services unit and supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The goal of the project is to support publishers in making design choices that result in publications, including very complex ones, that can be preserved at scale without sacrificing functionality. Access alert: OA journals from De Gruyter, Dedicated Juncture Researcher’s Association, and Manchester University Press

Portico is now providing access to content from 38 additional journals. These titles are no longer available through their publisher or a successor; therefore, they have “triggered” and are freely available to the community via the Portico archive. These titles were all originally published Open Access and will remain Open Access through Portico. Portico to preserve Wiley digital collections 

Beginning in 2021, Portico will preserve Wiley Digital Archives collections to ensure that content will be secure and available into the future. Wiley Digital Archives content will be preserved for ongoing access together with the Wiley journals, book, and Cochrane Library content that is already in Portico. Wiley Digital Archives restores, digitizes, and catalogs content from academic and scientific societies and universities, making centuries-old, unique primary source content accessible anywhere in the world. 18 new publishers, including 17 OA, join Portico

Publisher participation at Portico continues to grow: we now preserve content from 895 publishers. Recently, we welcomed 18 additional publishers to the archive, ensuring that their content will be secure and available in the future.
