Overview of Inaugural Portico Participants' Meeting
ALA Annual
Conference, 2006, New Orleans
On June 24, 2006, at the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans, Portico held its first Participants' Meeting. The meeting featured a presentation by Robin Dale, RLG Program Officer, on the ongoing work of the RLG-National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Digital Repository Certification Task Force and the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) Auditing and Certification of Digital Archives Project. In addition, Evan Owens, Portico's Chief Technology Officer, presented an overview of the technical challenges associated with archiving electronic journals. An update on publisher and library participation in Portico was provided by Toni Tracy, Director of Publisher Relations, and Ken DiFiore, Associate Director of Library Relations, both of Portico. Materials from the meeting, including speaker slides and lists of participating publishers and committed libraries, are available.
