Duke University Press and Portico sign archiving agreement

Portico is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Duke University Press to preserve all of the publisher's journal collection. Duke University Press is one of the five largest American university presses and publishes journals that span a stimulating range of disciplines within the humanities and social sciences--from East Asian cultural studies to French history, from lesbian and gay studies to the history of economic thought, from African literature and politics to medieval and early modern studies.

Since 1998, Duke University Press has been archiving select titles with JSTOR. Through this agreement with Portico, the Press enhances their long-standing commitment to preservation by archiving 34 journal titles with Portico and, in combination with JSTOR, ensuring their entire collection will be available for future scholars, practitioners, researchers, and students.

In addition to supplying journal content, Duke University Press has agreed to make an annual financial contribution to Portico and has designated the Archive as an official delivery platform for post-cancellation access claims.

With the inclusion of Duke University Press journal publications, over 5,300 titles have now been entrusted to the Portico archive. The complete list of journal titles is available at http://www.portico.org/about/committed_titles_alpha.html and a list of participating publishers is available at http://www.portico.org/about/part_publishers.html.

Please visit the Portico website to view a current list of participating libraries http://www.portico.org/about/participating_libraries.html.
